Dear Elk Creek Families,

Welcome to Elk Creek Elementary, home of the Eagles! I’m honored to return in 2017-2018 for a sixth year as the principal of Elk Creek. Elk Creek is a close-knit community of students, teachers, and parents who work together to help make our school one of the top in the state.

First, I’d like to welcome all of our new families! This includes our new preschool families! The transition into a new school can be interesting, and I encourage you to reach out with any questions. Monique, Liz, and Laura in the office are a wealth of knowledge and can answer just about any question you have.

One of the first questions that many families have is how to go about Drop Off in the morning and Pick Up in the afternoon. Here’s a map that should help: Hug N Go Map.

I encourage returning and new dads (or another male role model) to be a Watch D.O.G. using the Watch D.O.G. link under the Family Resources tab above. Watch D.O.G. volunteers are a crucial component of our school’s positive culture and serve as an additional measure of security. Plus, you get to play football and have recess again—what could be better?!

I also hope that you’ll join the Elk Creek PTA. Last year PTA provided the school with countless hours of volunteer service and more than $20,000 in direct financial contributions. You can learn more on the PTA Website or by liking them on Facebook.

You'll also want to closely watch (and even be involved in) the Elk Creek Field Foundation. This non-profit charity is dedicated to changing our dirt "soccer field" into a multi-use field turf area for Elk Creek students and the mountain community to enjoy. Check out their Facebook page!

Finally, please don’t hesitate to contact me for any reason. You can email me at rlucas@jeffco.k12.co.us, call me at school (303) 982-2900, or reach me on my cell phone after school hours (720) 495-1758. I’m looking forward to an amazing 2017-2018 school year!
