WatchD.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students)

Elk Creek adopted the WatchD.O.G.S. program in the fall of 2012. Dads, or another male role model, are encouraged to commit to spending one day (often their child's birthday) at Elk Creek to accomplish these two goals:

  • To provide positive male role models for students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important
  • To provide an extra set of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

During the day WatchD.O.G.S. may watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow, engage students at lunch and recess, locate and/or escort students, support teachers by assembling projects, and support the office with delivery of dropped off items and/or clerical items. WatchD.O.G.S. are assigned a two-way radio and an access card, and they have a "home base" desk in the main hallway. WatchD.O.G.S. are asked to purchase a WatchD.O.G.S. polo shirt ($20) so that they are easily identifiable to students, staff, and parents. (Shirts are also available to borrow).
