WatchD.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students)

We would love to have you at school for a partial or full day as a Watch D.O.G. For security reasons, all potential WatchD.O.G.S volunteers need to complete the registration form and required background checks before your arrival and before signing up. Once the registration form is complete, Monique Urban will contact you to complete the remaining security requirements.

WatchD.O.G.S. polo shirts are available to purchase so that they are easily identifiable to students, staff, and parents. (Shirts are also available to borrow).

History of WatchD.O.G.S.

Elk Creek adopted the WatchD.O.G.S. program in the fall of 2012. Dads, or another male role model, are encouraged to commit to spending one day (often their child's birthday) at Elk Creek to accomplish these two goals:
  • To provide positive male role models for students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important
  • To provide an extra set of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.

During the day WatchD.O.G.S. may watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow, engage students at lunch and recess, locate and/or escort students, support teachers by assembling projects, and support the office with the delivery of dropped off items and/or clerical items. WatchD.O.G.S. have a "home base" desk in the main hallways.
