Remote Learning: Behavior Expectations

Student Behavior Expectation Reminders

As a reminder to families and students, the Jeffco Public Schools Code of Student Conduct applies at all times – whether a student is attending in person learning or doing remote learning. We strive to always provide a warm, welcoming, safe and supportive learning environment regardless of the learning model. Please review these guidelines and the Student Code of Conduct with your student as a reminder of our expectations. These guidelines also include reminders about discipline in the remote learning setting.

General Principles

  • Teachers and staff will make connections, build relationships with students, set clear, explicit expectations and procedures, and provide instruction and time to practice desired behaviors to minimize misbehavior.
  • The District’s Student Code of Conduct/Student and Family Handbook and discipline policies apply for remote learning and in-person learning environments.
  • If a behavior causes harm to the school community, the behavior is subject to discipline.
  • Special Education procedural safeguards apply in all learning environments.

Remote Learning

  • Please use the Restorative Practices at Home guidance document for restorative practices families can use at home.
  • Please also visit the Restorative Practices website for families.
  • Administrators and teachers can use restorative practices as appropriate.
  • If it is necessary to remove a student’s access to technology, it is considered a suspension.
